BIRTH Support

Our compassionate care philosophy: We want you to feel informed, nurtured, respected, and listened to during your pregnancy AND birth. With our doulas by your side and providing you with tailored guidance during birth, you’ll be able to make the best decisions you can for one of the most important experiences in your life – becoming a parent.

The moment you found out you were pregnant, you probably discovered that you’re not in control of your body anymore! And if you’ve read any childbirth books or attended a birth class, you’ve likely also read that even the most articulate and detailed birth plans can be thrown out the window at any moment, which is naturally unsettling for many expecting parents.

REAL TALK TRANSLATION:

What is a birth plan? Do I even need one? You’re trying to figure out how to plan for a completely unpredictable experience, and you probably don’t know where to start. That’s normal, and we can help be a constant and reassuring presence for you throughout pregnancy, and by your side during childbirth. And we’ll help you figure out your birth plan, too.

We’re just a text or FaceTime away…

Birth doulas provide informational, emotional, and physical support not just during labor (although that is our jam!), but also during pregnancy. The journey to new parenthood isn’t complete without some unexpected detours, that can range from body aches, to emotional freakouts that there’s a baby at the end of this (yes, there is!), all the way to the more serious high-risk pregnancies. Your doula is by your side in person, or in your back pocket for a quick call or video chat, whenever you need them to be.

As birth doulas, we’re the experts on assessing and meeting yours and your partner’s needs in the moment and helping you adjust to the stages of labor with our toolbox of comfort measures, emotional reassurance, and complete nonjudgmental support. Supporting both you and your partner means that you’ll be as fresh and rested as you can be when you meet your baby!

From the moment you sign with us, we’re on call for you, 24/7. We’ll meet at your home (or virtually) for your prenatal visit(s), and discuss your options with a birth plan or preferences. As we arrive at your home or the hospital when you’re in labor, we’ll greet you with a huge smile and you and your partner will feel over-the-moon excited and relieved that we are there! It’s nearly impossible to quantify emotional support, reassurance, and everything in-between, which is what we provide to your growing family.

We have labor doulas in Washington DC and in Northern Virginia hospitals and birth centers.
